Death drama in Switzerland on Monday: A 48-year-old Ukrainian woman was found dead in a solarium near the border with Austria. There was a complete fire and the room was full of smoke. The investigation is ongoing.
The tragedy took place in St. Margrethen in the canton of St. Gallen. The 48-year-old woman came from the Rhine Valley.
As the responsible police told the Swiss “Blick”, the emergency call center received a corresponding report from a resident of the solarium shortly before 11 a.m. on Monday. The emergency services who went to the solarium on Grenzstrasse could only determine that the woman was dead.
A fire broke out in the cabin
It is unclear whether the Ukrainian woman has used the sunbed before. What is clear is that the woman was found fully clothed in the hallway of the solarium. During opening hours, the individual cabins can be entered and operated independently. According to police, a fire broke out in a cabin at an unknown time. Because there was a lack of oxygen in the rooms, no large-scale fire broke out. However, there was heavy smoke on the ground floor. The fire brigade was able to clear the smoke. The cause of the fire is now being determined.
Case raises riddles
In any case, the case raises some puzzles. According to investigators, the woman did not work at the Soldarium. Influence of third parties cannot currently be ruled out. It is also not clear whether the woman died there or whether the body was simply dumped there. So the police investigation goes in all directions. The Institute of Forensic Medicine of St.Gallen Cantonal Hospital was assigned to determine the woman’s cause of death.
