Ironing boards on fire – young people set fire to the Dornbirn fairgrounds

Date:

On Monday afternoon there was a fire alarm in the Dornbirn exhibition park. The reason for this: Several young people had apparently found no better afternoon activity than lighting fires in the Interspar. Ironing boards in the Interspar cash register area caught fire.

Anyone who wanted to shop at Interspar on Monday afternoon was out of luck. The shutters were down. A sign said the supermarket would remain closed due to ongoing smoke pollution and clean-up work.

Eight young people between the ages of 12 and 15 are considered responsible for the fire. The police are investigating arson and have already questioned the children. They probably started a fire at the cash register. This caused nearby ironing boards to catch fire.

Since there are usually a lot of people in the mall, the teenage vandals got lucky. Only one person required treatment for suspected smoke poisoning.

The boys and their parents will likely pay a high price for the supposed fun. In addition to the executive branch, numerous fire brigades were also deployed. They quickly brought the damage caused under control.

Perfect collaboration
Marketing manager Eva Voit was certainly satisfied with the work of the Florianijüngers. “The rapid deployment of the fire brigade prevented any danger to the people who were in the exhibition park at the time. The cooperation with the fire brigade and police to clarify the cause of the fire is going very well.”

All security systems worked effectively and quickly. Only Interspar remained evacuated. Messepark customers could shop in the other stores again.
