Burglary shock for a Carinthian woman: the Arnoldstein resident had to watch live on her mobile phone as several perpetrators broke into her single-family home.
Precisely at 9:14 p.m., previously unknown perpetrators gained access to the currently uninhabited single-family home in Arnoldstein, Villach-Land district. “They forced open a ground floor window, then entered the building and searched it,” an officer said.
Burglar observed via cell phone transmission
All this was seen by the absent homeowner who observed the burglary via the surveillance camera on her smartphone and immediately raised the alarm. The police launched a local manhunt, but the burglars managed to escape.
“It is not yet possible to say whether damage has been caused and how much damage has occurred and is the subject of further criminal investigation,” the police said.
Window smashed with a piece of wood
In the municipality of Pörtschach, burglars acted more brazenly on Monday. They broke into a hotel in broad daylight between 1:00 PM and 2:45 PM by smashing a ground floor window with a piece of wood. “The reception and office were searched for valuables. The perpetrators stole money and jewelry,” said a police officer, describing the damage caused, which amounted to several thousand euros.
