A 32-year-old drove through Vienna-Ottakring on Tuesday evening while on drugs and with two children in the car. The driver is said to have ignored several red lights at extremely high speed. The police were able to arrest the man.
Hard to believe: Around 10:20 PM on Saturday, officers in the Währinger Belt area became aware of a car driving towards Ottakring at very high speed. The driver also ignored all red lights. The vehicle was eventually stopped in Koppstrasse.
Children without restraint systems in the vehicle
During the check, it turned out that the driver showed clear signs of being addicted to addictive substances. There were also two children in the car, aged two and five! According to police, the two did not have child safety locks. The 32-year-old was immediately subjected to an official medical examination, which confirmed the suspicion of drug abuse.
Child and youth care was informed about the incident
The driver’s license was confiscated. A preliminary relief judge issued a writ of execution on the spot. There was also an arrest warrant against the 32-year-old for failing to pay several administrative fines. According to police, the children are now in the care of relatives. The child and youth care services of the city of Vienna are aware of the incident.
