Focus action by police, finance and municipality at Innsbruck airport and main station: taxi drivers were recently closely monitored as part of a targeted “action sharp”. The results are sobering: one driver even drove under drugs.
Saturday is the most important travel day in Tyrol – not only on the roads, but especially at Innsbruck airport and sometimes at the main station. Ultimately, the flow of tourists also means good business for taxi drivers. But when it comes to driver services, things don’t always go smoothly. For this reason, priority checks are regularly carried out at these hotspots.
More than 70 taxi drivers checked
Just like last Saturday. During the joint ‘Operation Sharp’ by the police, finance and municipality, a total of 71 people were checked for violations by the foreign and financial police and under the Occasional Traffic Act. The balance of the police and the city magistrate is as follows:
- A taxi driver was on drugs. His driver’s license was confiscated on the spot.
- A total of 27 violations under various administrative criminal laws were reported during the taxi checks.
- From the side of the city magistrate 20 violations of the Tyrolean operating regulations for passenger transport have been reported.
Illegal work, discrepancies with cash registers
The financial police also had a lot to do. Two taxi drivers worked without being registered with social security. In addition, discrepancies were found in three cases in connection with the cash register and an enforceable tax arrears amounting to 3,200 euros, part of which could be collected.
