A 20-year-old driver left his injured 24-year-old friend in the car after an accident in Rüeterswil, Switzerland on Thursday evening. Despite attempts at resuscitation, he died a short time later. Police arrested the driver who fled.
The accident happened when the young driver lost control of his car while drifting into the snow-covered parking lot of Atzmännig, as the St. Gallen cantonal police wrote in a statement on Friday.
The vehicle came to rest on its roof
The vehicle turned 180 degrees and slid ten meters. Finally he stopped on the roof in Goldingerbach. The 20-year-old got out of the car and simply left the scene of the accident.
A witness reported the incident to the police. Rescuers eventually freed the 24-year-old passenger from the car in the water and took him to hospital in critical condition, where he died a short time later.

The fugitive 20-year-old then contacted the police by telephone. The Swiss was subsequently arrested.
