A pensioner from Vorarlberg lured a seven-year-old boy (7) into his apartment and sexually assaulted him. He had to answer for the heinous act at the Feldkirch Regional Court.
It is the nightmare of caring parents to have something bad done to their own child. For the family of the seven-year-old primary school student, it became reality last October. Her son was sexually abused. But the perpetrator was not a stranger, but the family’s 62-year-old neighbor. The pensioner, who lives in Oberland, blatantly abused the child’s trust late one afternoon.
The boy had to demonstrate gymnastic exercises
On the pretext of showing him his model train, he lured the gullible boy to his apartment. There he asked the primary school student to show him some gymnastics exercises. The boy didn’t think about it and obeyed. But the 62-year-old had disgusting things in mind.
“He pulled down the victim’s pants and touched her private area,” said prosecutor Johannes Hartmann, who explained the facts of the case during Friday’s jury hearing.
After the seven-year-old’s mother became concerned about the whereabouts of her child, she also knocked on the door of the defendant’s apartment during her search. At home, the boy told what had happened to his neighbor. The child’s mother has filed a report.
Extensive confession
Shortly afterwards, the perpetrator makes a full confession, but is still taken into custody. During the trial he complains: “I need help. I just want to know the reason for my behavior.” Because it is not the first time that the man has stood out.
16 years ago there was already a case against him for sexually abusing a girl. However, the trial ended with an acquittal in case of doubt. This time the trial ends with a guilty verdict for serious sexual abuse of a minor.
The sentence: 18 months in prison, twelve of which are conditional. The judge awarded the victim partial compensation of 2,000 euros. Psychotherapy is ordered and probation assistance is ordered. The judgment is not final.
