Six people were injured in an alcohol accident on Friday evening in the Brigittenau district of Vienna. According to witnesses, a 27-year-old driver was driving on Handelskai in the direction of Freudenau at too high a speed and in an unsafe manner. At the intersection with Stromstraße, he ran into a stationary row of vehicles.
The accident happened just before 7 p.m. The collision pushed two other cars together. The 27-year-old alcoholic behaved aggressively and loudly to the summoned police officers. He was arrested and his driver’s license was taken away.
According to the police, the injured are between the ages of 19 and 49 and also the person who caused the accident. An alcohol test performed showed 2.5 per thousand.
Three victims taken to hospital
Most of the victims suffered bruises, according to the Vienna professional rescue service. A total of five teams of professional rescue services and the Red and Green Cross were deployed. Three traffic victims have been taken to hospital.
