At least thirteen people have been killed in a fire at a school dormitory in central China’s Henan province. Authorities said Saturday morning that another person was injured in the fire at a school dormitory. Authorities have not provided information about the identities of the victims.
It was therefore unclear whether students died in the accident on Friday evening. The cause of the fire was initially unknown. The principal of Yingcai School in Yanshanpu village was taken into custody, state TV CCTV reported.
Security measures in China are often inadequate
Deadly fires and other accidents continue to occur in China due to lax safety measures. In November, 26 people were killed in a fire at the offices of a coal company in northern China’s Shanxi province. In April, 29 people died in a fire at a hospital in the capital Beijing.
