Lost control – alcoholic steering crashed into tree on traffic island

A 46-year-old alcoholic from the Hermagor district (Carinthia) crashed his car into a tree on Gailtalstrasse in the Postran area on Sunday morning. The tree was on a traffic island.

The 46-year-old came from Hermagor on the Gailtalstrasse (B111) towards Tröpolach around 7 a.m. In the Postran area, the man lost control of his vehicle for unknown reasons and crashed head-on into the traffic island, the tree and several road signs.

Heavily drunk
The 46-year-old was taken to LKH Villach by the emergency services for further explanation. An alcohol test on the driver showed that he was heavily intoxicated. The car was removed from the scene of the accident by the ÖAMTC.

In addition to two police patrols from the Hermagor district, the Mitschig and Hermagor volunteer fire brigades were present with a total of four vehicles and ten emergency services. There is also an emergency vehicle from the Red Cross and the Hermagor road maintenance department.
