Fatal recreational accident on Sunday afternoon in Steinach am Brenner in the Tyrolean district of Innsbruck-Land: a 17-year-old tobogganer crashed with full force from behind into a woman (39) who was accompanied by her six-year-old son. The local woman was seriously injured and had to be taken to hospital.
The accident happened around 3 p.m. on the Bergeralm toboggan run. The 39-year-old Tyrolean rode with her son on a sled towards the valley. “Halfway, when the woman got off the sled, a 17-year-old who was following a bend to the right from behind bumped into the 39-year-old who was at the left side of the path ran through the valley,” police said.
Mountain rescue brought injured people to the valley
The woman fell backwards on the toboggan run and was left injured. Other sledders immediately provided first aid. The injured man was eventually taken to the valley by Mountain Rescue and then taken by ambulance to Hall State Hospital.
