Luke’s death was a shock. The question arises: were the parents in Vöcklabruck informed about the risks? They say “No”.
Lukas, of course, should have been born on December 6, 2021 at the Vöcklabruck clinic. But the worst happened. After several attempts with the suction cup, the emergency caesarean section followed. The child suffered serious brain damage from lack of oxygen. Lukas was transferred to the University Hospital of Salzburg and a week later the machines were turned off. A medical expert speaks of a “uterine rupture” that caused Luke’s death.
how did it get this far? A week before the delivery, on November 29, the heavily pregnant mother Sabrina W. had an informative conversation with a hospital doctor. She had already had a cesarean section with her daughter. However, the mother emphasizes that “the risk of a uterine rupture” was not discussed during the conversation.
Lawyer suspects ‘later change’
She was assured that “nothing speaks against a normal birth”. “We were not well informed about this risk. We are sure this was not on the data sheet.” It even comes with an accompanying note.
Attorney Stefan Rieder suspects that the factsheet “was changed afterwards”: “The script does not match other notes.” The clinic declined to comment on this on Friday. As reported, two doctors and a midwife are under investigation – the charge is negligent homicide.
