Unfortunately, stories of women’s suffering caused by their partners are constantly on the agenda of the Innsbruck Regional Court. Now a Turkish man (35) stood before the judge whose partner testified to his loving behavior – only he had been drinking!
The Turk, who lived with his partner in Innsbruck, subjected her to ‘martyrdom’, as was said at the hearing at the regional court. However, he himself denied almost everything. There were only ‘little pushes’ in the argument; of course he didn’t hit or even rape his partner at the time.
Down to earth “extremely loving”, but…
The victim described the situation – just like the public prosecutor – very differently. “For example, he kicked me in the stomach so many times that I had to vomit.” One night he also forced intercourse and eventually raped her. “The massive violence and this incident always happened when he was very drunk,” the woman explained.
When sober, however, he was “extremely loving,” but when drunk “he changed his character and was very aggressive.” Under such circumstances, he also repeatedly threatened to “crush her skull.”
The man, who had a criminal record, followed his ex-girlfriend’s comments on video with relative disinterest. At the end of the proceedings and after the verdict was announced, he had nothing more important to say.
The jury has now found him guilty
However, in the course of the negotiations, a number of issues came into question: his unemployment from May 2022, which is likely to significantly increase his alcohol consumption. What started with superficial punches to the neck in January (after just a few days of dating) eventually culminated in increasingly stronger punches and kicks in shorter and shorter successions.
The jury, chaired by judge Thomas Wallnöfer, ultimately found five years in prison and 5,000 euros in compensation to the victim appropriate – not legally binding.
