Arrests followed searches in Vorarlberg, Styria and Switzerland on Tuesday morning: the police succeeded in striking a blow against international drug crime.
In a joint action, the executive powers in Vorarlberg, Styria and Switzerland managed to deal a blow to international drug crime: a total of twelve men – eleven Austrians and one Croatian – were arrested early Tuesday morning. Eight arrests took place in Vorarlberg.
The men are accused of buying 100 kilos of cocaine and as much as 500 kilos of cannabis in recent years and then selling them for a profit. Most drugs came from Belgium, the Netherlands and Spain. The addictive substances were sold in Austria, Germany and Switzerland. Some of the cannabis was grown by the suspects themselves.
Rocker group
Two of those arrested are leading members of a rock group from Vorarlberg. The researchers tracked down the suspects through targeted international evaluation of so-called crypto-messenger services. They were also found during house searches Narcotics, firearms and ammunition, large amounts of cash, several valuable vehicles and data carriers and documents.
The eight people arrested in Vorarlberg are taken to Feldkirch prison on the orders of the public prosecutor. Extradition requests have already been sent to Switzerland regarding the three Austrians arrested by the St. Gallen cantonal police. A suspect was arrested in Styria.

The Federal Criminal Police and the Vorarlberg State Criminal Police emphasize that the joint investigation has resulted in a significant blow to the international drug trade in Vorarlberg. The further investigation will last several months and will be carried out by the State Criminal Investigation Department in Bregenz.
