Black ice was not only the fate of a driver in Oberwart: his bus with forty passengers slid into a petrol pump: nine were injured! Shortly afterwards it crashed again. The parents of a child collided with their two cars at the scene of the accident.
At 6:53 am on Tuesday, a bus was driving from Rechnitz on the B63 towards the center of Oberwart when the driver (55) tried to avoid a garbage truck. Due to extremely slippery road conditions, the bus – as reported – slid into a fuel pump at the petrol pumps of Südburg, a transport company of the Dr. Richard Group, and wrenched the device from its anchorage.
Only minor injuries
The bus then crashed into the concrete pillar behind the machine. Of the forty passengers, all of whom had a seat, eight students between the ages of eleven and seventeen were slightly injured. A young woman (20) also suffered injuries.
Treated in hospital
All those affected were taken by emergency services to the outpatient clinic of Oberwart Hospital for further treatment. “Fortunately, nothing serious happened, the passengers are doing well. Material damage can be repaired,” says Südburg director Siegfried Tanczos.
The passengers, who were unharmed, continued their journey on other buses.
Just another accident
Black ice isn’t just the downfall of bus drivers. Only shortly after the crash at the gas station did another crash occur. The father-of-one drove to the scene of the accident. When his informed wife also arrived, her car slid into his parked car. Damage to sheet metal!
