Search in Obertauern – Missing skier ‘just’ slept off intoxicated

Date:

A search in Obertauern ended slightly. After an après-ski party in the ski area, a 27-year-old Austrian suddenly disappeared. His friends alerted the emergency services and a large-scale search began. Meanwhile, the man was sleeping off his drunkenness in a strange hotel.

On Friday around 9:45 p.m., the concerned men alerted the police and said that their friend had skied with them from the Lürzer-Alm to a log cabin, but had not arrived there.

A large-scale search was immediately launched. Cell phone tracking was unsuccessful and all hotels and locations near the hut were searched.

Suddenly there again
The missing 27-year-old Austrian was found unharmed on the street around 2:20 am. He stated that because he was drunk, he slept for a few hours in a room in a hotel he did not know. He didn’t notice anything during the search and his cell phone broke a few hours ago.

The Obertauern mountain rescue team with 12 men and two dog handlers, the Obertauern volunteer fire brigade with 16 men, the Obertauern police with two men and even two drone pilots took part in the search, which was started immediately. An emergency doctor and the Red Cross with two men were also on site.
