The Israeli Air Force attacked on Thursday evening various destinations of the Hisbollah militia in the suburbs of the Lebanese capital Beirut. According to the army, the goals were “underground Hezbollah facilities” that are used to produce drones.
The attacks took place on the eve of the Eid al-Adha Official Festival (it is celebrated at the height of the Hadsch, the pilgrimage to Mecca; note), one of the most important religious festivals for Muslims worldwide. A spokesperson for the army had previously called for the inhabitants of Beirut, known as Dahija, to leave various buildings in Arabic.
An image of the Israeli army showed that the Air Force would attack eight buildings at four locations. Shortly after the evacuation call were car places that left the suburbs south of Beirut.
A resident of Dahija said: “We went outside with our children instead of staying at home to celebrate the festival and Eid al-Adha. Look at us, we are now stranded on the street.” A man from one of the suburbs said: “My children and my wife are in shock because of the loud cracks, we sleep in our car tonight.”
Attack was hisbollah-sturkold
It was the fourth air raid on Dahija since the ceasefire -the fires came into effect between Israel and the Hisbollah in November. The area is considered a stronghold of the Proiran militia.
The army of Israel announced before the attacks that Hisbollah works “under the leadership and with the financial support of Iranian terrorist officials about the production of thousands of drones”. The information could not initially be checked independently.
Hisbollah, supported by Iran, had been shot with rockets for more than a year since the start of the war in the Gaza Strip in October 2023. According to her own statements, she wanted to support Hamas in the Gaza Strip. Israel answered with air strikes and a soil offensive.
