A local resident (29) got behind the wheel of his car on Saturday evening with a blood alcohol level of 2.7. While driving he collided with a coach in Wagrain. Instead of stopping, the driver fled.
A witness observed the accident and alerted the police: he was also able to tell the officers the license plate number of the driver of the accident. This allowed the police to quickly track down the owner of the license plate and arrest him a short time later in Wagrain. According to police, the 29-year-old initially denied his involvement in the traffic accident. However, he eventually admitted that he had been driving. An alcohol test showed 2.7 per mille. The police immediately confiscated the driver’s driver’s license. He is also charged with hit-and-run.
