The asylum seekers’ house in Spital am Semmering is once again making the news: a fire inspection revealed shortcomings in fire protection, and now there has been a crisis meeting between the mayor and the director of the BBU. This is how it continues with “Haus Semmering”.
Maria Fischer, mayor of Spital, recently sounded the alarm. As reported, a fire inspection of the Semmering House revealed dangerous structural defects that required an immediate community response. A few years ago, the police had to intervene in the event of arson at the accommodation. The SPÖ politician then immediately confronted the Ministry of the Interior and the Federal Agency BBU with the bare facts in a message and urged a rapid renovation of the asylum seeker center. Because there is imminent danger for 180 people, including 95 children, there is even talk of deportation.
