Shock on Tuesday morning: children discovered something suspicious in a stream on the way to school in Reichraming (Upper Austria). A little later it turned out that it was a male corpse. Everyone involved responded quickly.
The body was in the water under a jetty leading to the school in Reichraming. “Two children saw it and reported to the school director that there was something in the water,” reports Michael Brunthaler, commander of the Reichraming volunteer fire brigade. The school janitor then started the rescue chain – and the emergency services discovered shortly afterwards: it was a male body and it had been rescued with a fire boat.
Area immediately cordoned off
“We cordoned off a large area and no one noticed anything about the other children,” Brunthaler said. Discussions were held with the two children who had reported the discovery to the school director. They probably didn’t know it was a dead person.
Investigations are underway
For such situations, the so-called SvE team of the fire brigade is always ready to “process stress after stressful situations”. It is not yet entirely clear who the dead person is. According to information from “Krone”, it would be a 62-year-old man from Lower Austria. An ordered autopsy should provide clarity and also clarify the question of the cause of death. On Tuesday it was initially assumed that there had been a tragic accident, but there were apparently no indications of foul play.
