The director was alerted around 10 a.m. The shots were fired from a window in the courtyard of a building in the Ottakring district. The tenant of the apartment in question was quickly found and the suspect, a 54-year-old man, was arrested in a bar near the crime scene.
He frankly admitted to firing the shots – more than that: he had fired in and out of the apartment several times in the past, as he explained.

In the meantime, the property was searched, three long guns, a blank pistol and 1,600 ammunition were discovered and secured, police said.
The suspect was legally in possession of weapons and ammunition, police spokesman Christopher Verhnjak said. A preliminary weapons ban was issued and the 54-year-old was reported as a threat to physical safety. No one was injured in the shots.
