Resident shocked – new allegations of disgust at refugee home

Date:

Once again, there should be catastrophic abuses at a private refugee residence – this time in Lower Austria’s Weinviertel. A former resident complains of devastating hygiene conditions. The operator denies the allegations. Previous checks went without objection.

Maggots on the floor, dirty sanitary rooms, moldy washing machines: there are said to be deadly abuses in a private refugee residence in Poysdorf. The disgusting pictures are said to be pictures of the property. The photos were leaked to the “Krone” by a Ukrainian to draw attention to the devastating hygienic conditions at the Weinviertel property. The family from Kharkiv stayed there for a short time and were shocked by the circumstances.

Regular checks performed
The municipality and the state are astonished: “I don’t know anything about it until now,” explains Mayor Thomas Grießl when asked. The neighborhood is said to be a full-service private property, regularly monitored by the state and Caritas. As the original “temporary housing”, the refugee house has long been inhabited by men from Syria and Afghanistan. Recently, women and children from the Ukraine have also been housed here. “This is certainly not an optimal solution”, the local manager refers to the unfortunate circumstances.

No complaints so far
The state also knows nothing about it: “Until now there have been no complaints during any of the routine checks. Such grievances would be immediately reported by Caritas as the responsible control body,” said Asylum Councilor Gottfried Waldhäusl (FPÖ). Postscript: “There are currently many photos of unknown origin circulating.”

After allegations, there was an immediate response on the spot
“We have been evaluated and found to be in order. There are always strict controls. We have had no complaints for eight years,” the private operator denies the allegations against “Krone.” The family was assigned to private quarters. She is now housed in an apartment in Styria. There are currently several refugees from Ukraine on the scene. According to information from the state, due to the allegations, checks will be carried out again in the coming days. As reported, similar allegations about abuses at the refugee home on the Wienerwald campus recently caused a lot of controversy in the media.
