Imagine stealing a very expensive 85-inch flat screen from a commercial building and while you are getting help transporting it, you are robbed by a passing motorist. This happened to a criminal duo in Innsbruck on Tuesday evening.
It is an extremely strange case that the Innsbruck police are dealing with. What happened? On Tuesday, an employee of a publishing house reported that an 85-inch flat screen worth more than 10,000 euros had been stolen from the office the night before.
TV on the left on the side of the road
The director immediately started an investigation. “During the investigations “It was determined that a 46-year-old Hungarian man had carried the device out of the building together with a previously unknown perpetrator,” the researchers describe.
And further: “They then parked the television set on the side of the road in the immediate vicinity of the building and left the location to obtain further assistance for further transport.”
In the meantime, however, the heavy and expensive stolen goods were spotted by a passing driver. “He loaded the television into the trunk of his car and drove away,” police said.
Handlebar figured, TV in the basement
During further searches, the driver of the vehicle was eventually identified – police say the suspect is a 50-year-old Italian. The stolen flat screen was found in his basement room and seized.
The two arrested suspects – the Hungarian and the Italian – will be reported after the investigation is completed. The search continues for the 46-year-old’s accomplice.
