Fisherman found leg – Man (38) arrested after body was found in canal

After body parts of a man were recently found in the Marchfeld Canal, the police arrested a suspect (38) in the Mistelbach district on Tuesday.

As the Vienna police announced on Wednesday, the suspicion of a 38-year-old had become more serious. He was arrested on Tuesday at 1 p.m. in the Mistelbach district on the basis of an arrest warrant from the Vienna Public Prosecutor’s Office.

Suspect also Iranian
The suspect is said to be from Iran. He would be responsible for the death of his compatriot. “He is currently being extensively interrogated by investigators from the Vienna State Criminal Investigation Department,” police said.

The victim was his father from Hietzing
It was on January 13 when a fisherman in Vienna-Floridsdorf discovered human remains in the water. The investigation into the discovery of the body immediately started in full swing. Detectives were quickly able to find additional body parts.

It turned out that the victim was a 45-year-old man from Hietzing. The man had been reported missing to the police since November 15.

The father of the family was said to have been murdered first, then dismembered and taken into the Marchfeld Canal. Blunt force trauma was found on the man’s (severed) head.
