Fatal winter sports accident Tuesday in the Tyrolean Ötztal: A six-year-old boy from Switzerland crashed into a fence while skiing in Sölden and suffered serious injuries to his leg. The child had to be flown to the clinic by emergency helicopter.
According to police, the serious accident occurred around 2:30 p.m in the fun park of Giggijoch. The boy was traveling with an 18-year-old ski instructor who was in charge of a four-person children’s ski group. In a turn, the six-year-old lost control of his skis and landed with his legs against a fence.
Broken thigh
According to police, the child suffered a broken femur. After initial treatment on site, the boy was flown to the clinic in Innsbruck by emergency helicopter.
