A violent collision took place between two skiers in the Mellau-Damüls ski area in Vorarlberg on Monday. A Swiss national was injured to an unknown degree and was flown by rescue helicopter to the state hospital in Feldkirch. Then came the sad news on Thursday: the man died in hospital from his serious injuries.
In the incident on Monday, the man drove over the tips of another winter sports enthusiast’s skis, causing them both to fall. While his German counterpart injured his arms, the Swiss had to be resuscitated on the slopes and – according to police reports – flown to the clinic in Feldkirch with injuries of an undetermined nature.
The Swiss died in Feldkirch on Thursday, three days after the accident. No further information is available about the cause of death.
