A brazen parking trick ended up in court for a 58-year-old in Innsbruck. He used his late mother’s disability card. It wasn’t the first time he had been accused of something like this.
“I made a mistake,” the suspect admitted in court. The Serb, who was driving his sister’s car in Innsbruck, parked – probably to save costs – in a disabled parking space and put his mother’s driver’s license behind the windshield.
As the police immediately noticed, the disability card had been manipulated: the document number had been removed. “I don’t know anything about that,” the 58-year-old claimed and wanted to portray the incident as carelessness: “I just should have looked more closely at what ID was in the car.” Because his sister has a legal disability ID CARD. “I just wasn’t thinking.”
The judge and prosecutor did not believe the statement
Ultimately, prosecutor and judge Norbert Hofer did not really want to believe this story. “Who else but you should have forged the ID card and for what purpose?” the prosecutor asked in his closing statement. Moreover, the Serb was already in court two years ago for a similar offense and got away with distraction.
Not yet final judgement
This time, Judge Hofer was not so merciful. He imposed a semi-suspended fine of 800 euros. The verdict is not yet legally binding.
