In Athens, an explosive device exploded in front of the Ministry of Labor in the city center on Saturday evening. No one was injured. The explosion was preceded by an anonymous call. The area around the building was then cordoned off.
According to police, the explosive detonated at 01:29 (00:29 CET). As public broadcaster ERT reported, the explosive was placed in a bag in front of the gate of a bank near the ministry.
Anti-terrorism agency is investigating
Attacks on public institutions, banks and diplomatic missions have occurred repeatedly in Greece in recent years. They are usually attributed to left-wing extremist or anarchist circles. According to police, the anti-terrorism bureau has taken over the investigation into the latest case.
