A young man was caught with 1,350 euros in counterfeit money at Vienna’s main station on Wednesday afternoon. The 26-year-old wanted to pay in the local supermarket with a counterfeit 50 euro note. But the cashier wasn’t fooled.
The cashier found the banknote strange and automatically checked it. When she realized the fifty was fake, she alerted the police.
The officers ultimately seized a total of 1,350 euros in counterfeit money from the 26-year-old. The man from Guinea was temporarily arrested and then released.

He denies knowing the money was counterfeit. He received the money for cleaning work. The Vienna State Criminal Investigation Department, South Division, is conducting further investigation.
