A 16-year-old girl was found dead in an apartment in Vienna’s 17th district on Monday. It has now become known that the young woman had used drugs before her death and probably died of an overdose.
On January 29, the teenager and the 44-year-old man who owns the apartment in which the girl was eventually found met around the Gumpendorfer Straße metro station.
The area is known for the fact that it often houses people with substance addiction. Both the 16-year-old and the 44-year-old are said to have been active in the drug world.
The young person had apparently previously been housed in a youth institution and, according to the police, he had also been reported missing. In any case, the 16-year-old was looking for a place to sleep, which the 44-year-old gave her.
Man alerted the emergency services
In his apartment in Hernals, the teenager is said to have taken two more tablets and fell asleep. The next morning, the Viennese noticed that she had stopped breathing and alerted rescuers, but they could only determine that she was dead. There are no signs of foul play or sexual abuse.
