Owner arrested – England: Woman attacked and killed by dogs

Date:

A woman was attacked and killed by two dogs in England on Saturday afternoon. The 39-year-old alleged owner of the animals was arrested, police said Sunday in Essex County.

“Specialist officers ensured the scene was safe and there was no danger to the general public. Unfortunately, this resulted in the killing of two dogs,” the statement continued. The breed of dog involved was not initially disclosed.

Woman died on the spot
Police called on eyewitnesses to the incident in the village of Jaywick on the North Sea coast of eastern England on Saturday afternoon to come forward. The woman died on the spot, it was said. The British government has been taking stricter action against dogs considered dangerous and their owners for some time now.

Since February 1, so-called XL Bullies – a mixed breed based on a Pitbull-Terrier type – may only be kept under strict conditions. The background is several fatal dog attacks in recent months.
