The intense storm across Austria caused several deployments in some states. The fire brigade also had to be deployed in Wiener Neudorf (Lower Austria) after the Westfield Shopping City Süd (SCS) billboard came loose near the southern motorway.
When the volunteer fire brigade arrived at the popular shopping center in the middle of the night, the first parts of the building had already fallen onto the road. Fortunately, however, no further accidents occurred.
Meter-long billboard secured
Despite difficult weather conditions, the emergency services secured the meter-long billboard with tension straps to prevent worse. However, wind gusts of up to 105 km/h prevented the billboard from ultimately being dismantled.
No injuries
Nevertheless, individual letters could be deleted and kept safe. During the action, the police cordoned off the entire area, including the road.
A total of three vehicles and 14 members of the Wiener Neudorf volunteer fire brigade were on site. No one was injured.
