Graz-based design company Migaloo has designed toys for the world’s super-rich: a mix of luxury yacht and submarine that allowed a potential owner to impress his guests on board with a dive to a depth of up to 250 meters.
The nearly 166-meter-long superyacht Migaloo M5 offers “unsurpassed privacy and security and is aimed at anyone who has a passion for discovery and is looking for an extraordinary experience,” according to the Styrian company’s website. Migaloo redefines luxury and adventure for its owners and guests, the company said.
But luxury also has its price. According to the “Süddeutsche Zeitung” you would have to pay around 1.85 billion euros for the yacht/submarine combination, depending on the desired equipment. And be patient, because it will probably take five years before the M5 is ready. The Migaloo company is currently exploring the market and conducting negotiations with various interested parties worldwide, the newspaper reports.
Range of 15,000 kilometers
The M5 allowed owners and their guests to take extensive tours around the world – above or below water. Underwater, the cross between a superyacht and a submarine could travel for four weeks in the depths of the oceans, with a range of 15,000 kilometers.
Interested parties with the appropriate ‘small change’ can use a questionnaire to configure the M5 entirely according to their wishes. For example, they are asked whether they attach great importance to design and whether they would like to use the cross between a yacht and a submarine for adventures or business meetings or rather for holidays with family and friends.
According to design agency Migaloo, almost anything can be installed on the M5: from a helipad, terraces for fitness, whirlpools, sauna, steam bath or a massage room.
