Manhunt in Innsbruck – brutal attack on taxi driver – two perpetrators fled

Brutal robbery of a taxi driver in the early morning hours in Innsbruck on Saturday: Two previously unknown perpetrators attacked the driver (27) and then stole the victim’s watch, who fled on foot. A search was unsuccessful. Police have published photos and are now hoping for clues.

The first previously unknown perpetrator got into the taxi of the 27-year-old Turk around 4 a.m. in front of a hotel on Brunecker Strasse. He wanted to go to An der Lan Street in O Village. But the disastrous journey must not end there: once there, the second previously unknown perpetrator got in and asked the 27-year-old to drive to the O-Dorf swimming pool on Kugelfangweg. As soon as they got there, one of the men hit the taxi driver on the head with a hard object.

Beaten, attacked and robbed
The second perpetrator also attacked the young Turk. He escaped from the vehicle and tried to run away. But the two perpetrators chased the man, eventually stole his watch and then fled on foot to the New Orleans Bridge. The 27-year-old suffered head and upper body injuries and was taken to the Innsbruck clinic. In the meantime, he could already be released.

Search failed so far
The police report that a search for the perpetrator has so far been negative and have now published photos and a description:
1. Male: 180 to 190 centimeters tall, about 25 years old, athletically built, wearing a black tracksuit and a dark cap. He spoke High German.
2nd man: About the same height and age as perpetrator number one. Dressed in the dark. He also spoke High German.

According to the investigation so far, according to the police, the man who got into the taxi first was taken to the hotel in a dark VW Up. The vehicle has unusual rims and a defect in the left rear lighting.
