A 63-year-old motorist was injured in an accident on the B76 in Wies in Styria on Monday morning. His vehicle became stuck between two bridges, preventing it from falling into the water below. Recovery of the vehicle was difficult.
The man (63) drove his car off the road on the B76 (Radlpass-Straße) towards Wies (Styria) and crashed into a bridge railing. The vehicle got stuck between the road bridge and the pedestrian bridge – luckily you have to say, otherwise it would have crashed into the Weiße Sulm. Nevertheless, the man was injured and had to be treated by the Red Cross.
An oncoming vehicle was very lucky and was able to avoid the accident vehicle that was driving in the oncoming lane. There were no other road users on the bridge at the time of the accident.
Difficult recovery
During the subsequent recovery of the vehicle, the emergency services paid special attention, because it was a hybrid vehicle. In order to recover the vehicle without damaging the batteries, a heavy rescue vehicle with a crane from the Eibiswald fire brigade was alerted. Traffic on the B76 had to be stopped alternately for the rescue and recovery work.
