Helicopters are also in use: a search in the forest for mysterious requests for help

Date:

There was a strange night operation in Pertisau (Schwaz district) in Tyrol on Monday evening! A member of Maurach’s mountain rescue service heard calls for help near his home. After he and his son initially received answers during their search, contact was lost. A search with a helicopter, drone and dogs turned up nothing.

It was a search for a ghost that a mountain rescuer and his son started Monday evening. Around 9:30 p.m., the father, himself a member of the Maurach am Achensee mountain rescue service, heard several cries for help from a male person near his house.

Finally, he and his son set off for the Zwölferkopf toboggan trail. After about 200 meters they heard another cry for help. “The individual also responded to their calls once, after which contact was lost,” police said. The man then called mountain rescue.

Drone and helicopter in use
Every stone in the area was turned over for hours to find the man. Several mountain rescuers and sniffer dogs combed the forest. A drone and a helicopter were also deployed. “The very dense forest cover made search flights with helicopters and drones very difficult,” the police continued.

The search was eventually called off around 2 a.m. without success. As of the early morning hours, police had received no reports of his disappearance. “If there is a change in this regard, a new search operation will be started in consultation with the Maurach am Achensee mountain rescue service,” it concludes.
