The Russian army has attacked several Ukrainian cities with drones and missiles. At least two people were killed and others were injured. Kiev Mayor Vitali Klitschko called on people to seek safety in bunkers.
According to Klitschko’s account, power went out in the capital after two power lines were damaged by falling rocket debris. The heat supply on the left bank of the Dnipro is also affected. Emergency services extinguished fires, for example in an 18-storey residential building, and burning cars. A pregnant woman was also taken from the building to a hospital, Klitschko said.
Destruction in the south
Missile and drone attacks were also reported in Kharkiv in the east, Lviv in the west and Mykolaiv in the south. Mykolaiv Mayor Olexander Senkevych reported that an injured person died in hospital from his injuries. Many buildings were destroyed and the water pipes and gas network were also damaged.
According to its own statement, air defenses shot down about twenty Russian cruise missiles and several drones in Kiev and the surrounding area alone. The war in Ukraine has been going on for almost two years.
