He is the first Austrian to reach the NFL: Bernhard Raimann (26) of the Indianapolis Colts. The Burgenlander is considered one of the stars of the league due to his left tackle position. He revealed to Krone+ who will win the Super Bowl on Sunday and how tough the company is.
Crown+: It would be an abysmal understatement to describe their past season as ‘turbulent’: the regular quarterback was injured early on, the quasi-home game in Frankfurt, many unexpected victories, missing out on participation in the play-offs due to a dramatic defeat in the very last game. How emotional and demanding was this season for you?
Bernhard Raimann: That was a huge experience, both positive and negative. The season went better than the year before, we won more games. Including some in overtime, in extra time, which is of course always very exciting. There was also the first game in NFL history in Frankfort where my entire family, including Grandma, was able to attend. But: if you ultimately miss the play-offs so narrowly, you are left with a bitter aftertaste. You work on this one goal all year long. The final elimination spoils the overall impression a bit. But we have learned a lot as a team and the motivation for next season is now even greater.
