Spectacular accident Tuesday evening in Pians (Landeck district) in Tyrol! A motorist (35) left the road on the Arlberg Expressway S16 and crashed into a concrete wall. His vehicle overturned and landed on a grass verge. The driver suffered significant injuries.
The 35-year-old Bosnian was driving west in the second lane shortly before 7 p.m. At the end of the Quadratscher tunnel, his vehicle went over the edge of the road for unknown reasons. He slid down the rising concrete wall.
Moments later he literally stuck the front of his car into the ground on the grass verge and rolled over once. The vehicle turned and came to a stop in the opposite direction of travel. “The 35-year-old was able to get out of the heavily damaged vehicle under his own power and was taken to Zams Hospital for further evaluation by the rescue team with injuries of an undetermined nature,” police said.
Road partially closed
While the accident was recorded and the car was recovered, the roadway was closed for almost two hours. The Zam rescue team, the ASFINAG route service, the towing service and two patrols from the Imst highway police were present.
