The farmers will leave Duranguesado, Mungialdea and Encartaciones early tomorrow morning. According to the forecasts, they will enter Bilbao at 09:00 via Elorrieta, Ibarsusi and Zorroza. From 10am to 11am they tour the streets of the capital of Biscay, between San Mamés and El Arenal.
The trade unions are active under the motto “Eutsi baserriari”. EHNE and ENBA They have called for a mobilization this Friday, February 9, in Bilbao to demand the end of European free trade agreements and guarantee fair prices for the sector. To do this, they take to the streets 75 tractors that will include several Biscay roads And streets of the center of Bilbao. The farmers of Bizkaia will therefore join the mobilizations carried out by their colleagues in Álava and Navarra.
As EHNE sources explained to eitb.eus, the trekkers will arrive in the capital in three columns, leaving early in the morning from Duranguesado, Mungialdea and Encartaciones. The first of the columns starts from Lea-Artibai and Duranguesado around 8am. The tractors meet in Abadiño and travel through the N-634 until reaching the capital. They enter via Bolueta (Ibarsusi) and travel the route to San Mamés “in coordination with the municipal police”.
The second column will come from Mungialdea and Txorierri. The farmers will gather in Erandio at 8:15 am and take the Asua highway (BI-604) to enter via San Ignacio (Elorrieta).
The baserri tarras of Encartaciones They will form the third and final march. The earliest birds (6:30 am) leave the Carranza Valley and meet the rest there Zalla (7:00 am). This tractor drives through the BI-6351 (old Cadagua road) to enter the capital via Zorroza.
The three columns are expected to arrive in Bilbao at 9am. The tractors, single and without trailer, will be present at all times accompanied by the Ertzaintza. The marches of agricultural vehicles will reach the capital through the neighborhoods of Bolueta (Ibarsusi), San Ignacio and Zorroza. Once in Bilbao, the Bilbao Municipal Police will provide support and direct traffic.
The hikers come together at the 10:00. on the boulevard San Mamesto then go to the Arenal Bilbao (11:00 am). The concentration of tractors will give way to a protest and a ‘transparent’ market, in which they will offer those who come the opportunity to buy lamb.
EHNE emphasizes that Its purpose is not to make Bizkaia and Bilbao ‘collapse’, and that the entire route has been coordinated with Traffic and the Bilbao City Council. However, he has admitted that the slow movement of tractors will “slow down” traffic.
