Dubious land deals – farmer engages justice in grazing battle

Date:

The partner of a notary as a farmer? A woman from Pinzgau is likely involved in several controversial real estate sales. Farmer Peter Höller has had enough. He now turns to the Public Prosecution Service.

In the Pinzgau it smells very bad when it comes to land sales. Rarely have the readers of “Krone” been so unanimous. The reactions to Peter Höller’s story are moving in a clear direction. One word is often used: ‘Dubious’.

As a reminder, the farmer from Piesendorf had sold a 2.5 hectare meadow next to his farm through a notary in financial need. His partner now owns the green. She is not a farmer. This would be required by law. However, this was not a problem for the authorities.

ÖVP politician sold to the notary friend
According to research by “Krone”, the notary’s friend also owns other agricultural properties through a GmbH – including a farm near Mittersill Castle. The GmbH bought this from an ÖVP politician. This already made negative headlines in 2013. At the time, she sold a house on a hill in Mittersill to a Finnish couple. Shortly before that, the woman herself had submitted an application for agricultural use of this area. Sale price of the property: 1.12 million euros.

In a recent report on real estate transaction commissions in Pinzgau, the State Audit Service criticized the lack of control over real estate sales.

Justice investigates dubious deals in Pinzgau
‘Leave the farmers to their land,’ demanded SPÖ MP Karin Dollinger. As is known, the SPÖ has called in the Public Prosecution Service for Economic Affairs and Corruption (WKStA) because of the incidents in Pinzgau. Farmer Peter Höller has joined the WKStA. “It all has to be revealed,” he says.
