Two teens injured – Crashed into a tree, rock jump went wrong

Two serious accidents occurred on the ski slopes of Tyrol on Monday. The victims are both 14 years old. One of them crashed into a tree. The other fell after jumping over an edge. Both teens suffered serious injuries.

The first accident happened around 11 a.m. A teenager (14) from Germany skied towards the valley on the red slope number 121b in the ski area “Home of Lässig” in Fieberbrunn (Kitzbühel district). “The winter sports enthusiast fell into the lower third for an unknown reason,” police said. The teen then slid about 20 yards down the slope, went over the edge of the slope and crashed into a tree in the woods.

The 14-year-old suffered injuries to his back. After the first treatment he was flown to the clinic in Innsbruck by the ‘C4’ helicopter.

Jumping over an edge went wrong
The second accident happened around 4 p.m. A Dutchman, also 14, skied down the red slope number 4 in the Hochzillertal ski area in Kaltenbach (Schwaz district). “He left the organized ski area and continued his way through a wooded area towards Platzalm,” the investigators said. The teen then jumped over a five-metre-high ledge and landed on the flat slope. He fell and suffered serious leg injuries and serious head injuries.

After the first treatment, the 14-year-old was flown to the clinic in Innsbruck by helicopter ‘Martin 7’.
