In northwestern Mexico, security forces have found a massive drug laboratory in a rural area. More than 40 tons of methamphetamine and chemicals for the production of synthetic drugs were seized during the operation.
The find in the town of Rancho Viejo in Sonora state is considered the most important in Mexico in years. No arrests have been reported.

30,000 murders last year
Last year, more than 30,000 murders were registered in the country with approximately 126 million inhabitants. Most crimes are never solved.
