Now it’s official: in no other state, with the exception of Vienna, have there been as many demonstrations against the corona measures as in Upper Austria. This is apparent from the response of the Ministry of the Interior to a NEOS parliamentary question. And participants didn’t come to all the demos.
According to this, there are 563 registered demos across the state as of 2020. 14 of these were banned for various reasons. By way of comparison: in Styria there were 304 and in Tyrol 272. There are no specific figures from Vienna, because the content of the demos is not statistically recorded there.
Demos without participants
And according to the answer to the question, between December of the previous year and this February alone, only police officers came to 23 demonstrations in Upper Austria, and not a single participant showed up.
The so-called Corona walks are not included in the demonstrations, because they are not registered. In Steyr, for example, there is already the 73rd walk. According to the police, between 300 and 500 people still attend, while the (almost) daily demos in Linz now rarely attract more than five people.
