According to the police, a German skier (34) was probably traveling much too fast in the Itter ski area in Tyrol on Wednesday morning. The man came around a bend of the piste and collided with full force against a piste edge marker. The 34-year-old didn’t even notice his serious injuries at first.
The accident happened shortly after 11 a.m. in the “SkiWelt” on a red marked slope. The skier probably went over the edge of the piste due to his speed in a right turn. This caused him to hit the edge of the track and come to a stop a few meters below it.
Injuries were only discovered in hospital
The victim appeared virtually unharmed after the blow. He was skidooed away and taken to Kufstein Hospital for a check-up. There doctors discovered serious internal injuries with bleeding.
