The Israeli army has planned a military offensive in Rafah, in the south of the Gaza Strip. “I fear a mass slaughter of people in Gaza,” wrote UN Emergency Relief Coordinator Martin Griffiths on Platform
The people there have “little to eat, little access to medical care, nowhere to sleep and nowhere safe to go.” “They, like the entire population of the Gaza Strip, are victims of an attack unprecedented in intensity and brutality. and scope,” said UN Emergency Relief Coordinator Martin Griffiths.

The international community has also warned of the dangerous consequences of a ground invasion in Rafah. Last week, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered the army to submit to his government’s plans for an offensive in Rafah and the evacuation of the population there (see video above). The combat units of the Islamist Hamas must be destroyed.
Explosives in the north
“Evacuation to where? There is no safe place in Gaza,” said Philippe Lazzarini, head of the Palestinian aid agency UNRWA. The north is littered with explosives that have not yet been detonated, and therefore the population cannot be moved there. People have already fled within the coastal area several times. More than 100,000 people were killed, injured or missing.
Meanwhile, the governments of Canada, Australia and New Zealand issued a joint statement calling for an immediate humanitarian ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. “Palestinian citizens cannot pay the price of a victory over Hamas,” it sometimes says.
