An American woman believes the end of her marriage has made her live to just 109 years old. You don’t have an “annoying man in your life,” she told a camera crew.
It’s a statement against true love, and yet it’s going around the world! An American camera team from the local TV channel WJZ visited 109-year-old Jennie Libertini in a retirement home in the state of Maryland.
What she then revealed as the secret of her old age sounded extremely unromantic: “No annoying man in my life. And it was only thanks to the end of my marriage that I lived to be 109 years old.”
Worked at Ministry
Libertini was born in Baltimore in 1915, the daughter of Sicilian immigrants. She made history as the first woman hired by the newly established Ministry of Pension Insurance in the 1930s. She married and had a son named Michael.
Birthday bingo party
Until she was 105, Libertini lived in a shared apartment with a friend. After her death she moved to the nursing home. The older single woman likes to play bingo there regularly. That’s why she wanted a ‘bingo party’ for her birthday. Well then, happy birthday!
