Animal haters always seem to come up with new ways to harm four-legged friends. In Traun (Upper Austria), the play instinct of dogs was apparently about to end fatally: a shepherd mix found a tennis ball filled with poison – the Wauzi was fortunately saved.
An animal hater in Traun apparently wanted to cruelly exploit the play instinct of dogs. “On Thursday I went for a walk with my Shepherd mix in Grinningerstrasse. “My ‘Cloe’ found a tennis ball and took it with her,” Selin M. writes on Facebook.
Probably rat poison
When she got home, she noticed that the ball had been cut open and filled with white powder. This could be alpha-chloralose, a poison used to control rats and mice. However, if dogs or cats come into contact with it, it can be fatal in many cases.
The dog was rescued
The immediate visit to the vet probably saved “Cloe”’s life. There are also said to be two dead ravens where the ball was found – police are investigating.
