The residents of Fieberbrunn (Kitzbühel district) made a terrible discovery on Saturday. A wily deer lay just a few feet in front of a residential building. The suspicion of a wolf’s tear is obvious. In the evening, an eyewitness photographed a possible wolf not far from the “crime scene”.
“Look what’s on your doorstep.” Gerda S. was informed of the carcass in front of her house on Lindauweg in Fieberbrunn on Saturday morning thanks to a tip from a neighbor. A dead deer lay just a stone’s throw from her house. The animal must have been killed.
DNA sample arranged
The suspicion of a wolf’s tear is obvious. A DNA sample from the dead animal must show whether this is actually the case. The state of Tyrol also wants to wait until then for confirmation. It is also still unclear whether it is a risk wolf. According to the state, a shooting regulation could be issued in the coming days.
Witness took photo of suspected wolf
Angelika H., who lives directly opposite the affected building, described her observations to the “Krone” and also took a stunning snapshot: “When I drove home on Saturday evening, there was an animal standing three meters above the road. It was definitely a wolf. The size was right. He was so terrible.”
Wolf spotted by several residents
The animal would also have been seen by other people in the town, she describes: “It can be concluded that it also roamed in the wider settlement area of Fieberbrunn.” The photo of the wolf (see above) was taken only about 150 yards from the carcass. Fieberbrunn’s deputy BM Thomas Wörgetter confirmed the find.
BM Walter Astner is currently abroad: “I will clarify the further procedure with the state by telephone from Monday.” As the state of Tyrol recently reported in its major carnivore balance, there were more wolves in 2023, but fewer livestock losses. Last year, 25 different wolves were sighted throughout Tyrol.
