Major alarm in Helpfau-Uttendorf (Upper Austria) Monday evening. A chicken coop caught fire on an agricultural plot. The owner tried to extinguish the fire. Ultimately, it took seven fire brigades to contain the flames.
The fire in the chicken coop started around 3:30 am on the night from Sunday to Monday. The 61-year-old farmer from Helpfau-UITtendorf woke up by loud noises and noticed that his chicken coop was completely on fire.
Attempt to extinguish failed
The man alerted the fire brigade and tried to extinguish the fire himself, but that was hopeless because the fire was already blazing fiercely. At that moment the fire was about to spread to the shed, which consisted entirely of wood.
Seven fire brigades in action
The fire was eventually brought under control by the seven alerted fire brigades and was then quickly completely extinguished. The chicken coop was completely destroyed by the fire, while the shed suffered only minor damage. However, the five chickens in the chicken coop did not survive the accident. No people were injured or in danger.
